His recent singles ‘Control’ and ‘Win Some Lose Some’ along with their quirky videos have garnered much support from tastemaker publications such as DIY Mag, DORK Magazine, CLASH Mag, and The Line of Best Fit. But Sam Hurt aka Frequency Cowboy isn’t done yet; he has just released his new single ‘Are You Out There,’ mixed and produced by Stew Jackson.
Trained as a classic pianist, Hurt uses his Wurlitzer piano as the core instrument on his tracks, resulting in his distinct sound. He has created an irresistible slice of pop with his latest cut by blending laid back guitars with clever harmonies that crash with blues and pop.
Speaking of the track he says: “I wrote this song whilst walking around the streets of Auckland. There were so many people seemingly on autopilot. It was a really interesting time in my life so it was quite a contrast. I’d been working and climbing for six months and not doing much music; I then wrote two songs a day for a week in a hotel room before flying home.”
