PRESSYES is the new project of Vienna-based musician René Mühlberger who previously toured Europe with well-known Austrian bands. Hidden away from the public’s eyes and ears, sheltered in his studio behind a stash of analog synthesisers and equipment, Mühlberger has been working on bringing his vision of summery and sparkly yet psychedelic pop tunes to life.
‘Touch The Sky’ is his debut single, accompanied by an artsy video with dreamy visuals. The stellar new track was self produced by Mühlberger himself and follows his well-received collaboration with Austrian trio Gudrun von Laxenburg on track “Just Can’t Get Enough feat. PRESSYES” (Skint Records).
Says PRESSYES of the single, ““Touch The Sky” played a very strong role in defining the overall sound for PRESSYES. It started off as a very simple acoustic psychedelic tune 2 years ago – and suddenly turned into a groovy hip hop influenced track after making up my vintage Ludwig drum set and boosting it through an old cassette tape machine. The lyrics for the song were never really written – they were just improvised while singing the first take. And that’s what the song is all about: letting the mind breathe instead of overthinking”.
